We all wish you a warm welcome to The Navigation Inn and hope you enjoy your experience with us. We serve home-cooked food in a comfortable atmosphere amongst friends, family and colleagues. Also, we take pride in keeping & serving traditional Cask ales alongside other beers, spirits, wines & hot drinks too. We are happy take bookings and also cater for private functions upon request.

October 2018 saw a major refurbishment to the Inn and change of Landlord & Landlady, both local to the area. The outside area has been updated alongside the whole interior of the Pub, but, to keep the traditional country pub feel, we have no Fruit machines. Well behaved Dogs are always welcome in our Bar area if you don’t want to take advantage of the beer garden. We also have a mounting block and ‘tie up’ rings alongside the wall for the Horse riders who wish to pop in for refreshment after a frantic or peaceful hack and of course cyclists and walkers are always welcome.

Here’s a little history about this historic building that stands along the old site of the Derby & Sandiacre Canal. Built in the 1790’s, the Inn is situated at the point where the road from Breaston to Risley bridged the canal, at the North West corner of the cross roads where Risley Lane, Longmoor Lane and Stevens Lane meet. Originally there was a mooring place there so that goods could be taken out and brought in and many stories were no doubt exchanged. The Inn has therefore been at the heart of community activity from its beginning. Since the closure of the canal in the 1960’s, the pub has remained at the heart of village life and is more than ever a successful business serving the community.

We all look forward to taking care of your Hospitality needs whether that is nutritionally or the need for rehydration.
